Hi guys, Lewis here. I have literally just finished Lies about 5 minutes ago and there are a few things that i dont understand and wish to understand before moving onto Plague. Firstly, Brittney/Drake. What is going on there? I understand that they have 'fused' together but how? Secondly, LP and the Gaiaphage. How does the G manage to reach LP through the game? And what is up with when Astrid see's the Avatars or whatever? Thirdly, Mary. What happens there? I understand she took the bait and poofed, but why does it describe, on page 456 as 'They weren't falling, they were flying. Flying free.' I dont understand this.
If anyone knows the explanations to any of these please reply or message me :) If you dont understand any of these, probably the second one with the Avatars, message me or reply and i'll try and explain what i mean :)

I've read all the books out so far and even I don't understand the avatar thingy exactlly. I need to re-read, but Lies is my least favourite so I don't particularly want to until I have to (just before Light comes out)
And how they fused together? I don't know the technicalities of it but in Hunger when Brittney dies she dies with a part of Drakes whip mangled into her body or something. So as far as I can tell, that's got something to do with how the transformation/merging occured. Like I said, I'm not exactlly sure of some of these things, the Brittney thing I kind of thought...yeah, I'm just gonna accepet it and move on. It is the FAYZ after all.

'They weren't falling, they were flying, flying free' This bit is in Mary's POV right? Well I think she thinks this because she truly does think she is saving all those kids and she thinks they will all be free from the FAYZ after she poofs.

Again, if anyone has any of these answers it would be great to hear them :)

Well i think the Gaiaphage had made Drake and Brittney form somehow because brittney can't die and the Gaiaphage needed drake to be alive, Secondly the Gaiaphage controls LP's mind by thinking what he's doing with his powers (creating nerezza) was just part of his game as he is clueless to the open world. then astrid see's that this is the game the Gaiaphage is playing in LP's mind. and the Mary part was what she saw becuase when you're going to take the poof it slows time for everything but only mary notices it as she's taking the poof

I just finished it a few days ago and I thought the whole thing with the avatars was like a game of chess or something because at one point Astrid says to Breeze "Get Sam he is Pete's most powerful piece" so I assumed that it was the Gaiaphage and Pere playing a game and they each had their own "pieces" (people) to control to try and win the game. just a thought with the Brittany/Drake thing, maybe the snail which wouldn't come off has something to do with it?

The Drake/brittney was fused by Lana and the gaiaphage.
The avatars, is what LP uses to show Astrid what's happening. It shows Sam, being the main character on LP's side, and nerezza and orsay on the gaiaphage's side.
