I must say, when I started with Gone, I imagened the persons not like it stays in the description. The radest difference was Diana, I imagened with blonde Hair, blue eyes and a bow in the hair :D And Caine I imagened like Glitch from Dance Central 2 :D

Do you imagened the persons like in or on the book/covers?

There's only a couple of people I do. Most people I don't, though. For example, I imagine Drake and John with brown hair and Lana with blonde hair.

I imagined Penny like my sister of the same name and personality, I imagined Sam as typical blonde surfer boy, I imagined Astrid as a good friend of mine (let's call her R), little Pete as R's brother (let's call him L), Brianna was an acquaintance of mine (let's call her D), Dekka was another of my good friends who I obsessively ship with D, my head-Brittany looked like me and Lana was Luna Lovegood for no other reason than that their names sound similar.

Most people, yeah, but not all.

I imagine them like in the description. Years of reading books non-stop has programmed my brain to do so. XD

It really depends.
Most of the time I see the peole the way they are described.

Normally I imagine them like they're described, but not always. For some characters, particularly the ones who aren't quite as main when they're introduced, I somehow end up forgetting the description and have my own ideas of how they should look. This results in a bit of a shock when I re-read the books. xD

Examples would have to be Penny (I forgot that she was Asian) and Drake, whom I imagine with dark hair. The latter is definitely caused by watching Drake and Josh so often when I was younger.

I don't even remember what Lana was described as. But I don't care what anyone says I imagine her with Blonde Hair.
And I always pictured Drake with dark hair, not Sandy hair. That's why when I re-read Gone and it said something along the lines of Drake having Sandy hair I was like... What?

^Yes? Drake has sandy hair? In the german version the don't said it and it seems i skim the part with that in the english book :D

Why does everyone picture Lana with blond hair? I imagine her with really dark hair.
And I know someone who really reminds me of Dekka. And Brianna reminds me of like a female version of me or something but that's just because her name looks like mine.

I always imagined Brianna as this cute preppy girl with red hair and freckles (for some strange reason). I always thought Lana would look a bit like Astrid: blonde hair blue eyes . . . that sort of thing. I just think of Drake with blondish brownish hair, nothing like the back of Lies and the cover of Plague. Sam and Quinn as typical surfer dudes. Most of the others characters fit the description of the books in my mind. But it never crossed my mind that Taylor was Asian. Even if there was a description of her in a book, I would not believe it.

I mostly imagine them like in the book.
Quinn I imagined as a blond haired girl for the first chapter of Gone o_o but now I imagine him how he's described (maybe a bit more... flamboyant xD)
Sam, I imagined like a typical surfer dude, blond hair, gray-blue eyes.
I imagined Brianna as being black until the second book... now I imagine her as having short reddish hair, thin, short stature, and freckles. Kinda like nightblossom said.
I imagine Dekka how she's described, broad shouldered and dark skinned with black hair in cornrows and a heavyset frame.
I imagine Lana with long brown hair, plain looking, high cheekbones, and for some reason I always picture her having chapped lips? Really weird, I know.
I picture Drake just how he's described. Same with Caine and Diana (I imagine Diana having pale olive skin).
And I picture Howard and CJ to both look reaaally adorable...
And of course Edilio. I imagine him with short, spiky, dark hair, a plain, honest looking face, big dark eyes, GORGEOUSNESS, short (like how he's described), strong, and basically SUPERMEGAFOXYAWESOMEHOT in every regard.
