I like the UK design, those are the ones I have.
The sides used to be the same color as the book's theme but now they aren't anymore *cries*

I actually like the UK one too, but, I have to say, the Dutch Fear(Angst) one is very very cool x3

Love the UK covers so much. Probably wouldn't have even looked at the US ones. I'd probably have given the Netherlands' one some thought but the UK one holds more mytery and the title its self is more pronounced than in the other two (duh, it's the only thing there xD) therefore making the viewer more likley to think about the title rather than the designe of the cover. When looking at the American one, the models are infront of the title, making the viewer more likley to think about what the modles are doing and where they are, rather than what's gone, why it's gone and why this is a bad thing and we know it's a bad thing because it's an ominous, radioactive yellow surrounded darkness (no pun intended). I guess the US covers show us that whatever's gone, it must be a bad thing and it does so though the medium of angsty teenagers looking meloncholy...
Another thing about the mystery created, it does this by giving away a very vague and discreet hint about the content (except for LIES: their's NOTHING discreet about that ¬_¬).
E.g.
GONE:
US- Angsty teen agers.
UK- Radioactive glow and boy running (why the radiation? From what are you running?)

HUNGER:
US- Angsty teen agers.
UK- Orange glow and someone with their hand to their face (are they trying to protect themselves? Perhaps eating grass? oes the orage represent heat? Pain?)

LIES:
US- Angsty teen agers.
UK - Put aside the obvious Drakeness. Blue glow (Orsay's dreems? Mystery induces by the lies?)

PLAGUE:
US- Angsty teen agers.
UK- Bugs and red glow (did the bugs cause the plague? Are they the plague? Does the red glow signifiy blood spilled? Evil? Death?)

FEAR
US- Angsty teen agers.
UK- Cracks, girl standing an a stronger, less defensive, postition, purple glow (are they cracks in the FAYZ wall? Are they cracks in the minds of its inhabitants? Is there an earthquake? Why is she looking so strong? Are the kids of the FAYZ going to stand up to something? What are they standing up to? What does purple represent? The fear of the children? Death? Darknes?)

As you can see, the UK ones highlight the title, propose questions and provoke thought, making people more likley to read them and not see it as another teen fiction (that's what the US cover looks like).
May I also point out that the genders of UK GONErs are pretty much on a 1:1 Boy:Girl ration where US GONErs are on a 1:3 (or there abouts) as showen by a pole that took place here a while ago and my own personal expeirience (the people with whom I talk about GONE at school are male and I know an equall ammount of females who read it). This show that the UK covers appeal to more people that the other two covers.

Sorry for the rant and please mind my spelling ^_^;

I reckon the dutch ones that are like angst (on the homepage of Gp) are the ones with the most thought and they look pretty cool i must admit

I could say the exact same thing, except flip it around so it makes the US covers seem better...

That isn't true at all. Just because more American girls read the series than American guys doesn't mean that a smaller percentage of Americans read the series than people in the UK.

Yes, but the ratio doesn't show that more people from the UK like gone than from the other two places like you said.

I may have never even read the Gone series if I had lived in America. The saying don't judge a book by it's cover? Well, while I agree with this statement, it doesn't change the fact that at first, some book covers just grab your attention, while others don't.

I was just looking through a catalogue and the saw the Gone books (UK covers) and thought, wow they look so dark and mysterious. Went to the shop checked them out, they sounded good. So I got them for christmas XD

Where as if I saw the american covers of Gone I would've been like, meh, another lame teenage novel. Although, if someone handed the books to me and said: these are really good! I probably would've no doubt read them.

All I'm saying is that the UK covers are more attention grabbing.
