Did you notice in Gone that it only said how Bug ,Diana and Drake got into Coates but it didnt say how Caine ended up there? Any theories how?
Here are a few of reasons that i think he went to Coates(well really only one but who cares :evil: )

1. He was a moof all his life and he injured a kid with his powers

Yeah, the son/father fishing trip might have been part of the reason why he was sent to Coates. Like, when that other Diana girl was forcing him to smoke that stuff. And he said no. And she lied or whatever.

But maybe his fake parents realized he was just a bit evil.

I think Michael Grant said that his parents just realised how evil he was. And I doubt he was ever close to his parents anyway, so they... how do I say this? Didn't really want to keep a troublesome kid around.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with fidhing trip too but it could also have something to do with him being evil too.

I think it maybe was the fishing trip :/ And maybe his adopted parents were REALLY strict and they decided he needed to go to Coates or something :/
Or maybe he has had his powers for longer than the others, and got into some bother with them :/

i always thought that his adoptive parents just could deal with him cause he was so "troublesome" and they didnt really like him so they just sent him to coates.

It had "very little to do with the fishing trip". I know Michael Grant said that somewhere (I'll look it up for you). I think Becky's got it right. Caine's mother sounds fussy to me, and if his parents are rich then they (stereotype - I'm sorry! D:) might be used to having everything perfect. So when Caine turns out to be a complete sociopath, I doubt they'd want him round.

He didn'y discover his powers until he was in Coates so that can't be the answer. maybe it'll be answered in Plauge?
