The summer of 2011, I picked up a book lying on the floor, :surprised: it was entitled GONE and the cover seemed interesting.... and so I stareted to read. I didn't notice time passing so fast. The lybrary was about to close, so I lent it out and finished it in 2 days. Later, I noticed that was the only book of the Gone series. Disappointed I was. So I bought HUNGER, LIES and PLAGUE from the IE and I love it so much I even bought GONE in spite that I've already finished it. :yeah:

How did you met Gone?

I needed a new book to read for the summer and I saw GONE. I'd seen it about for a few years but never picked it up, so I thought, sure, why not? So glad I picked it up rather than another vampire/werewolf soppy love story >.>

In seventh grade I was part of a book club. One of the first books we read was GONE. Everyone immediately fell in love with it and before we knew it we were on to HUNGER. After seventh grade ended and there was no more book club, we all continued to read the series, waiting impatiently every year as a new one came out. Years later, I am still in love with the series!!!!

This guy I know was reading GONE and recommended it to me, so once when I was int he library I was like "Oh, hey, this looks interesting!" So I took it home and read it in a few hours, then got addicted to the whole series. :)

At the library and I picked it up off the shelf. I read the blurb, thinking to myself;

Oh god, another dramatic, huge novel with absolutely no purpose and with gangs and fights."

But when I picked it up and read the first few pages. I borrowed it. I finished it in three hours and we went out to borrow Hunger and Lies the same day. <<

My friend pointed out Hunger in a bookshop. I had seen it before and it was at the end of my to be read list so I bought it. Before I could read it, I realised that it was the second in the series so I spent ages looking for Gone. When I found it, I locked myself in my room and read like crazy.Finished, moved onto hunger and read like crazy. I then went on a shopping trip for Lies and Plague.

Because of 'great' marketing.
I was shopping for some books, at the pay desk they advertised the first in pocket format for 5 euro. I read the back and I thought, hey, must be fun. I actually never expected it to be like this. I assumed it would just be a story about missing grownups never assumed superpowers and stuff would be involved. At first I actually thought it was a pity that it was so fantasy-ish and while reading the first book I'd rather read about normal kids trying to survive in an adultless city. Just for a moment, after a few chapters I got really into it and I loved it. Of course I was desperate to read the second. Here's where the 'great' marketing comes in. They didn't sell it in pockets so I had to pay 4, 5 times more for the next books because there wasn't a pocketversion anywhere. I was quite annoyed by that, not only because my poor bank account wasn't happy about my new addiction, also because I had 2 hardcovers nearly twice as large as the pocket, yes I care about the looks of my bookshelves and you have to agree, a pocket next to the amazing hardcovers looks kind of silly. So I had to buy the book again, just to make it look good. (would others do that or am I just very neurotic?)
When I start buying series, I want to have them all, and I want to have them all the same size and style. Or all different so it wouldn't irritate my eye.
Also, after the second book I couldn't wait for the third so download an ebook (Because I don't really need 3 different books of the same story) English version is better anyhow, translations make you deal not only with the author but also the translator and things can be translated various ways, sometimes I so disagree on translated proverbs and such.

Well, I visit a book store at least once a week, and everytime I was there, I picked up GONE, but I didn't have enough money to buy ut (I spent it all on other things everytime xD) and then my mum had bought it for my birthday in 2010. (:

I was in a book shop with my friend and she was buying the book of "harry potter and the deathly hallows" cause we just saw the film, then i saw gone, all the other books had pictures on the over but gone didn't, it was different so i picked it up and read the blurb, i bought it , and have now been obsessed with the gone series ever since.
