After finishing the first book in the series I found it was very much like GONE. Everyone above the age 16 is turned into an infected cannibal creature. The young ones then live in an adult-less world with mutated creatures. Also I kept being reminded of GONE because some characters were strangly alike.

David = Caine 2.0

Whitney = mary 2.0. ( child care takers)

Blue (at first) = orc 2.0 (sorta dumb leaders of rival group)

arran= sam 2.0 ( main characters with mom memories)

Small Sam = Justin 2.0 (Adventures of young boys constantly wetting themselves)

I liked the book and everything but it felt like a gone plot only in Britain ( and more twists and turns)

I've read it too, and I also noticed a few similarities between it and the first Gone book. On the other hand, a little bit of similarity isn't that surprising, since they're both young adult dystopia novels. There's a hell of a lot of books out there and some of them resembling each other in terms of plot, characters or theme is more or less inevitable, in my opinion. For example, has anyone else ever noticed that there's a character named Lavender Brown in both Harry Potter and Roald Dahl's Matilda?

That being said, I liked The Enemy but I really preferred Gone because I thought it was better written. There's a ton of characters in both, but in Gone I was able to keep track of them because Michael Grant made each of them seem like a real and unique person. But in the case of The Enemy, I began to get confused between them - there were just so many and some of them didn't seem real enough for me to remember them. I'm not saying it was poorly written, I just think that Gone is the better book by far.

I'm not actually sure which one was written first... To be honest, I think no book is a '2.0', And most certainly not these two. And also, They're a lot more different than similar, and I think the only resemblance they do bear is the lack of adults.

Yes, but we'll find out how it all happened later on in the series.

The creatures in the series are kinda like zombies, with a few key differences. The basic rules still apply; they're vicious humans that attack and try to eat any other living thing they find, but it's only adults: children seem to be immune to the disease or whatever it is. They're quite clearly not living corpses though, so they're not 'zombies' in that sense. They also run and have some limited intelligence, like setting ambushes and a (very slight) chain of command.

Even if it's not as good as Gone, in my opinion, it's still a very good read. If you think it sounds interesting, I'd heartily recommend you try it.

I love both series. Gone is way better in terms of words etc. Normally zombie type plots would win but not this time, I think Gone was published first.

Eh I think the enemy series was better. I'm probaly just biased because I find it entertaining when the main characters get killed so easily so yeah. But David is no way like Caine! David seems more nerdy and Caine seems cooler and more awesome, yeah they're both charming but eh.
